Season Ends ...........

Well I will be glad to see back of 09/10 season. 2 broken collar bones, broken nose and a disslocated thumb. Terrible weather and nowhere near enough wins- says it all that I finished on 13 winners - a season of Frankie Figgs - nearly!

I thought I would give you a few blow by blow moments though with questions compiled by my business manager !

Best Ride / Enjoyed the Most:
Frankie Figg

Best Horse:
Quewetwo

Horse most looking forward to riding in 2011
Colour Clash over fences

Favourite race track:
Ascot

Funniest moment:
One of the Valets - who shall remain nameless who has the habit of saying inappropriate things - one of which was the funniest moment !

Least fav moment:
Falling on Frankie Figg when he had been briliant

Favourite pundit/journalist:
Mick Fitzgerald

Ambitions for next year 2010/2011:
Not to have as many injuries, and make the most of new opportunities

Onwards to Perth and hopefully some chances

Hexham over the hills !

Off for a busy day at Hexham today with plenty of rides for the Gee Aker Malayo Handicap Chase day - sponsored in the main by some lovely owners Suzanne Ramsay and Nigel Williams after one of their ex race horses - I hope the sun stays out for their race day and invited party.

5 rides today starting off with the old warrior Prince of Slane - at his best he would pick these up and carry them - lets hope he does ! I have ridden the fav before on recent form he would win but he often doesnt run two races alike so hopefully we have a small each way chance.

Cash on Friday and Cast Iron Casey will run well - I was really impressed with Cash on Friday first time and as long as he doesnt bounce he should go well. Cast Iron is a really good horse and the step up in trip should help him in the feature race.

Of the other two both have place claims with the bumper horse being a lovely long term prospect for the MS Borders race club who have had many a nice horse in the past.On his bumper form County Colours would win so he must have a huge chance in the 3.30 - a race Howard Johnson won also last year.

Three on Friday

Three at Ayr on Friday , with Raysrock being the best chance for the in form Peter Monteith - not sure yet for Saturday but with no ride in the Scottish Grand National I shall be watching from the side sadly. I had a quick look at the fimal decs and even with top weight Killyglen would have to be the class horse and should run well - of the lower weights would think that Dom Dorgeval should run well as long as the ground isnt too quick and his race last week hasnt taken too much out of him - his trainer Nick Williams has a huge knack of getting horses to run well.
Cant wait for Perth next week , love the track and the welcome we get there and I hope that I can get a couple of good ones for Peter up there. Then after that we start again, the new season will hopefully bring some better luck and a sustained set of rides!

Broken nose and another national beckons

Two days at Ayr and three days at Perth - the end of the jumps season is near - hoping to pop in a winner somewhere along the line! The ground will be quick at Ayr and it should be an interesting race without Denman, a very tight handicap to say the least!

Nearly............

What a great feeling today from Frankie Figg, jumped like a buck and the only one he missed out he clattered- I only hope I get to ride him again as he is up there with the biggest thrill ride you can have. I think we had a bit left in the locker and with the distance back to the second we would of gone really close. Onwards to tomorrow and thanks everyone for the kind words after Frankie !

Friday and Saturday

All go , off to Aintree again for Ladies day and two rides over the national fences !

Like the chances of them both to run well, Frankie Figg jumps well today and must have each way squeak and Royal Rosa gets in to the National - Think he can hold his own as he likes the course and looks to be in fine from.

Anyway lets hope that the horses and jocks all come home safe and sound

Grand National Week - I hope everything is coming up Rosa !!

That is me back from the wee break, only missed one winner and a few close ones as well ! The National decs are getting closer and I hopefully will get a ride for Howard Johnson, I hope Royal Rosa gets in !

From Todays Sporting Life:

Abbeybraney is guaranteed a run having sneaked in at number 40 following the confirmation stage, but Royal Rosa, who Johnson has described as his main hope, still needs three to come out.

"The one I really want to run is Royal Rosa and he still needs a few to come out," said Johnson.

"We'll have to play it by ear but if it looks as though Royal Rosa is just going to miss the cut by one, I'll have to take Abbeybraney out.

"Abbeybraney pulled his stifle out coming down the hill at Cheltenham last time, but he's fine now.

"Both the horses are really well. I took them down to the sea at Redcar the other day and they loved it.

"If they both get in on Saturday they'll both run but if they don't, the other would probably go for the Scottish National along with Killyglen."

With stable jockey Denis O'Regan booked to ride leading fancy Black Apalachi for Dessie Hughes, Johnson has had to look elsewhere to sort out his riding arrangements.

"Denis rides Black Apalachi on Saturday and couldn't do the weight on either of my two anyway," Johnson continued.

"Wilson Renwick will ride one of them and if both of mine get in then I'll give Ryan Mania his first ride in the National, as he's a good kid."
